Does Batman or Catwoman Appear in The Penguin Finale?

With The Penguin Episode 8 now available to stream on Max, many wonder if Selina Kyle does appear in the finale. Does Bruce Wayne show up as Batman? Do any other familiar characters from Matt Reeves’ first Batman movie make an appearance? Here’s all you need to know.

Does Selina Kyle appear as Catwoman in The Penguin finale?

Zoe Kravitz’s Selina Kyle doesn’t appear as Catwoman in The Penguin. But, the series finale did confirm her presence and she actually got a name-drop. After Sofia is put into Arkham yet again, she receives a letter from her half-sister, Selina Kyle. The connection sets up their return in The Batman Part II, where they might connect and take the fight against Oz.

Does Bruce Wayne appear as Batman at the end of The Penguin finale?

Unfortunately, Robert Pattinson’s Bruce Wayne does not appear as himself or Batman in The Penguin’s final episode. Matt Reeves and showrunner Lauren LeFranc always wanted the series to focus on Oswald Cobb, which is why Batman never showed up.

However, the series continued to drop hints of his existence, even playing with the viewers in Episode 6. But, in the last episode, fans do get a direct clue pointing towards the Dark Knight as the show ends with the Bat signal shining in the sky. The tease leads the story directly into Matt Reeves’ The Batman Part II.

Until Episode 7, nothing too drastic happened that would have warranted Bruce Wayne or Batman to appear. But, the explosion in Crown Point had many fans believing that the Caped Crusader could finally show up in Episode 8, or else the series would be stretching its suspension of disbelief way beyond its limit.

However, the finale handled things well enough by wrapping the explosion angle quickly and keeping the narrative focused on Oz and Sofia, without people feeling the need for a Robert Pattinson cameo.

Overall, the Selina Kyle letter and the Bat signal were the only major clues that The Penguin dropped for Kyle and Wayne. Jim Gordon does not show up either. But, Con O’Neill’s GCPD Chief Mackenzie Brock returned to arrest Sofia. The finale also brought back Jayme Lawson’s Mayor Bella Reál to wrap up the cameo quota from The Batman and set up another storyline for Oz Cobb in its sequel.
