Fantastic Beasts’ Callum Turner Joins Tessa Thompson Drama

The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Fantastic Beasts alum Callum Turner has been tapped to join Nia DaCosta’s upcoming Hedda.

In addition to Hewson and Turner, the Ibsen adaptation will also be led by Tessa Thompson — set to take on the titular role. The character has previously been played by Ingrid Bergman, Isabelle Huppert, Jane Fonda, Cate Blanchett, and other esteemed performers.

Turner is best known for his role as Theseus Scamander in Warner Bros.’ Fantastic Beasts movies. His other notable projects include Green Room, Victor Frankenstein, Assassin’s Creed, and Emma. He will next be seen in George Clooney’s next directorial project, The Boys in the Boat, and Apple TV+ series Masters of the Air.

What to Expect in Hedda?

Hedda is being written and directed by The Marvels filmmaker Nia DaCosta, who reunites with Thompson after working together in DaCosta’s feature directorial debut Little Woods. Ibsen’s 1891 play centers around the daughter of a general trapped in an unwanted marriage.

The project will be produced by DaCosta, Thompson, and Gabrielle Nadig, with Kishori Rajan and Michael Constable executive producing. It hails from MGM’s Orion Pictures and Plan B.
