Jim Brown Passes Away, NFL Icon and Actor Was 87

Jim Brown, one of the greatest football players ever and an acting legend, has passed away at the age of 87.

Brown’s passing was confirmed by his wife, Monique, who announced the news in an Instagram post on Friday. Brown’s wife said in the post that the football icon “passed peacefully” on Thursday night in their Los Angeles home.

“To the world he was an activist, actor, and football star,” reads the post. “To our family he was a loving and wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. Our hearts are broken…”

Brown was best known for his incredible career playing football and is often considered one of the best players in NFL history. In his nine years of playing, Brown set a majority of rushing records for the time and was not only enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame but was also named to the NFL’s 50th, 75th, and 100th Anniversary All-Time teams.

Alongside his football career, Brown also had an extensive list of acting credits, including a starring role in the 1967 classic The Dirty Dozen. After infamously retiring from the NFL while on set for the film, Brown would go on to have a long acting career, appearing in things like I Spy, Draft Day, Mars Attacks!, and The A-Team.

ComingSoon sends condolences to Brown’s family and friends at this time.
