Legacy Casting Update Reveals Potential Lex Luthor Choices

AT Superman: Legacy casting update has revealed who some of the possible choices for Lex Luthor could be, as well as how far along the DC movie’s screen tests are.

What is the latest Superman Legacy casting update?

The Hollywood Reporter published an article delving into Superman: Legacy’s screen test process, further confirming previous reports that claimed Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, and Tom Brittney were auditioning for Clark Kent/Superman, while Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, and Phoebe Dynevor were auditioning for the part of Lois Lane.

The Superman and Lois Lane actors and actresses were apparently in makeup and wardrobe for their respective parts. Hoult, Brittney, and Corenswet did further screen tests shortly after, while only Mackey returned for further Lois Lane screen tests, though the outlet’s sources note that this is not indicative of Mackey being the front-runner.

The report notes that there’s a shortlist for Lex Luthor as well and that brothers Alexander and Bill Skarsgård are in the running to play Luthor. It’s unclear if Hoult, who originally wanted the villainous part, will also try out for Luthor alongside Superman. Members of the DC supergroup The Authority are also being cast, as Superman: Legacy’s world will reportedly already have superheroes existing in it.

“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”

Production on Superman: Legacy is expected to begin in early 2024, just on track for its currently scheduled theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
