Lilo & Stitch Live-Action Remake Image Shows Off Stitch’s Cute and Fluffy Side


Disney has released a new Lilo & Stitch live-action remake image, previewing the cute and fluffy side of Stitch in a new look at the upcoming movie.

The image comes courtesy of Disney’s ongoing D23 Brazil event, from a presentation for their upcoming slate of projects. The image sees Stitch standing on a bed with a lei around his neck.

Walt Disney Pictures previously announced that the live-action Lilo & Stitch movie will be released in United States theaters on May 23, 2025. It currently shares a release date with the eighth, still untitled film in the Mission: Impossible franchise.

What do we know about the Lilo & Stitch live-action remake?

Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo in the film, while Sydney Agudong plays Nani, Kaipo Dudoit plays David, Tia Carrere plays Mrs. Kekoa, Courtney B. Vance plays Cobra Bubbles, Amy Hill plays Tūtū, and Jason Scott Lee is playing a luau manager.

The voice cast, meanwhile, includes Chris Sanders as Stitch, Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba, and Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley.

“The Hawaii-centric story tells of the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who was genetically engineered to be a force of destruction,” a description of the plot reads, via The Hollywood Reporter. “With nosy social workers and pursuing aliens banging on the door, the two bond over a shared sense of family and win the day.”

The script was written by Chris Kekaniokalani Bright, while Sanders and Dean DeBlois wrote and directed the screenplay for the original 2002 movie. Sanders voiced the character in the original movie and numerous other projects, including Lilo & Stitch: The Series, 2005’s Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, and 2006’s Leroy & Stitch.
