Mel Gibson stars in serial killer thriller

Mel Gibson, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Brian Van Holt, and Nora Zehetner star in the serial killer thriller Boneyard

Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon), Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Escape Map), Brian Van Holt (Joe vs. Carol), and Nora Zehetner (The Right Stuff) star in the serial killer thriller Boneyard, which is currently filming in Las Vegas. The Hollywood Reporter confirms that Asif Akbar (The Commando) is directing the film and crafted the screenplay with Hank Byrd, Vincent E. McDaniel, and Koji Steven Sakai.

Said to be inspired by true events, Boneyard sees Gibson taking on the role of an FBI special agent who, along with the Albuquerque police department, is hunting for a serial killer nicknamed The Bone Collector. The chief of police and one of his officers, however, have a contrary view of the manhunt, believing someone in their own department may be the killer.

It should be noted that, despite the serial killer being called The Bone Collector, this doesn’t have anything to do with the serial killer thriller novel of that title, which was written by Jeffery Deaver and inspired a feature film (starring Denzel Washington) and a short-lived TV show (starring Russell Hornsby). This is a different Bone Collector.

Jackson is playing the chief of police in Boneyard, and Van Holt is playing an officer who is connected to the case through a missing niece. Details on Zehetner’s character have not been revealed.

Flix Financial is co-financing Boneyard with The Film Post and One Dollar Studios. Colin Bates and Vincent McDaniel are producing the film, while Randall J. Bacon, Daniel R. Carmona, and Dean Scheske serve as executive producers.

How does Boneyard sound to you? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I’m totally on board to watch a new movie about Mel Gibson tracking a serial killer, so I will definitely be watching Boneyard whenever it ends up being released.

Earlier this year, a rumor indicated that Gibson will be going into production on a sequel to The Passion of the Christ sometime during the year. Will he be going right from hunting down the Bone Collector to telling another story of the Christ? We’ll have to wait and see how 2023 plays out.
