Bandai Namco today announces Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs for PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch. The upcoming retro-inspired battle royale title supports 64 players in cross-platform multiplayer.
New Pac-Man battle royal coming in 2024
Bandai Namco announced the new Pac-Man game with a trailer and press release. The game sees players control their Pac-Men through a network of connected mazes. Mazes disappear one by one, forcing players to compete in a smaller and smaller area.
However, time and Ghosts aren’t the only enemies, as players can also chomp each other’s Pac-Men. The new game also features power-ups that let players sabotage each other directly or by buffing the Ghosts. Other power-ups include shields, speed, a Ghost-repelling field, and more. Chomp Champs also features a variety of costumes and cosmetic items for players to customize their Pac-Men.
“Pac-Man has always been a title for all players, young and old,” said Bandai Namco America’s Senior Director of Brand Development Susan Tran, “and we’re happy to give PAC-fans around the world a new playground to meet and compete with each other to become Chomp Champs.”
As such, Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs supports cross-platform multiplayer on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch. Players can participate in Ranked or Elimination modes and Chomp Champs. They can challenge family and friends or try their luck in skill-based matchmaking.
Meanwhile, those who prefer to watch can also spectate matches from the regional and global leaderboards.
Pac-Man Mega Tunnel Battle: Chomp Champs launches in Early 2024, but Bandai Namco hasn’t announced a specific release date yet. However, gamers will have an opportunity to play it early at New York Comic Con on October 13 and 14. Players can try the new battle royale out during Bandai Namco’s Pac-Man Shine On pop-up event from 5-10 PM Eastern.
