Queer Photo Unveils New Look at Luca Guadagnino’s Daniel Craig Movie


Ahead of its world premiere tomorrow at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, a new Queer photo from Luca Guadagnino‘s newest romance drama has been revealed. This marks Guadagnino’s first gay period drama movie in a long while, after nearly a decade since finding critical success with 2017’s Call Me by Your Name.

“Set in 1940s Mexico City, it follows Lee who has fled from a drug bust in New Orleans. In Mexico City, Lee wanders around the city’s clubs and becomes infatuated with drug user Allerton, a discharged American Navy serviceman,” reads the synopsis.

Who is in the new Queer photo?

The new official still provides the audience with a closer look at lead stars Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey, whose characters can be seen talking with each other at a bar. At the moment, the film currently has no theatrical release date yet, but A24 is expected to handle its North American distribution.

Queer is directed and produced by Guadagnino from a screenplay written by Challengers scribe Justin Kuritzkes, based on William S. Burroughs’ 1985 novel of the same name. Joining Craig and Starkey are Jason Schwartzman, Lesley Manville, Henry Zaga, Drew Droege, Ariel Schulman, Colin Bates, Omar Apollo, Ronia Ava, and more.

Besides Queer, Guadagnino is also currently working on another star-studded project which is is thriller movie titled, After the Hunt. It will be led by Julia Roberts, Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garlfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloe Sevigny. Meanwhile, Craig will also next be seen in Netflix’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, where he’ll be reprising his role as detective Benoit Blanc.
