Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, season 1, YouTube, streaming

The premiere of the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is just two weeks away and Paramount+ has a special treat for those wanting to catch up on the series. All ten episodes of the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has been made available for free on YouTube for a limited time.

Unfortunately, these episodes are region-locked to the United States, so if you live elsewhere as I do, they won’t be available for you.

Strange New Worlds stars Anson Mount as Christoper Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga. The second season also features Carol Kane as Chief Engineer Pelia. Paramount has already renewed the series for a third season, so we’ve got plenty more Strange New Worlds to look forward to.

The upcoming season will also include a crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks, with Tawny Newsome and Jack Quaid making the leap from animation to live-action as Beckett Mariner and Brad Boimler, respectively. This is something quite different for star trek, so I can’t wait to see how they pull it off. The episode was directed by Jonathan Frakes, who called it a “flat out comic [episode]” while speaking with TrekMovie last month. “Mariner and Boimler just happen to cross over from their animated world into the ship with Anson (Pike), and Rebecca (Number One) and Ethan (Spock) on Strange New Worlds,”Frakes said. “And it is a flat-out comic [episode]. It’s fabulous. It’s a fish out of water. Fortunately, both Quaid and Tawny look like their characters. So it’s so absurd to see them in three dimensions and their interrelations… Boimler is obsessed with Spock, and terrified of Number One. There is so much good stuff. And Mariner comes to save the day. It’s very, very funny. I’m very proud of it. And I can’t wait for people to see it.

If you can’t watch it on YouTube, the first season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is streaming on Paramount+ and is also available on Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD. The second season will debut on Paramount+ on June 15th.
