Tito Jackson dead at 70, claims report

The news about Jackson’s death at age 70 broke on Sunday. His sons, TJ, Taj, and Taryll Jackson, took to Instagram to jointly release an official statement confirming the demise reports. They expressed their grief while sharing some kind words about their deceased father. “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson, is no longer with us. We are shocked, saddened and heartbroken. Our father was an incredible man who cared about everyone and their well-being,” they wrote. Nevertheless, his official cause of death remains undisclosed.

Initially, Jackson was inspired to pursue a music career after watching his father and uncle perform on weekends. When he once experimented with his father’s guitar, he was caught and later encouraged to play for him. Soon, all the talented Jackson brothers decided to start a pop band. For starters, they performed in front of audiences at local talent shows and supermarkets.

After winning several talent shows, they quickly changed their name to Jackson 5. They soon signed with the Steeltown label and released their first single, “Big Boy.” They attracted immense attention and fame by dropping several hits like “I’ll Be There,” “I Want You Back,” and “Mama’s Pearl” under Motown’s record banner. Their renowned band was also honored at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

After a successful run with Jackson 5, Jackson opted for a solo career in 2003. While he continued his musical ventures, he side-by-side also judged BBC’s Just The Two Of Us. Years later, he delivered a commercial hit single called “Get it Baby” in 2016. Ahead of his demise, he most recently collaborated with Natalia Damini, giving popular band nostalgia in the “Attitude” music video in 2023.
