Jack Del Rio arrested for OWI in Wisconsin, claims report

Jack Del Rio has resigned from his position after being arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated (OWI). The 61-year-old was involved in an incident early Friday morning in Madison, Wisconsin. He allegedly struck a street sign, damaged a fence, and ended up in a yard. According to the Madison Police Department, witnesses directed officers to Del Rio, who was walking away from the scene and showed signs of impairment. Del Rio admitted to driving the vehicle and was arrested. No injuries were reported.

Following the arrest, Del Rio expressed gratitude for his time with Wisconsin’s football program. He said, “I’m grateful to Coach Fickell and the University of Wisconsin for the opportunity to work with such a talented coaching and support staff and some of the best young football players in the country.” He further announced his decision to step down from his role and wants the team to focus on the rest of their season. Wisconsin athletics quickly responded, acknowledging the seriousness of the situation and assuring that they were gathering more information. Head coach Luke Fickell addressed the matter in a press conference. He stated that Del Rio would move forward by resigning and taking responsibility for his actions. Fickell said, “But it’s a tough situation. Decisions that all of us have to be able to take full responsibility for. So that’s what Jack will do, and we’ll continue to move forward.”
