Morgan Wallen absent from 2024 CMA Awards, claims report

On November 20, the CMA Awards took place at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with many A-list personalities attending the big night, which witnessed several wins. Wallen, who was nominated in seven categories, also emerged victorious in the Entertainer of the Year Award.

The category boasted other singers including Jelly Roll, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson. However, many people noticed that Wallen wasn’t present to accept the prestigious award as Jeff Bridges stepped in to receive it (via People).

Bridges came up to the stage and gave a speech on Wallen’s behalf, promptly addressing his absence from the award show. He said, “Morgan couldn’t make it tonight, so I’m going to accept this award on his behalf. Alright, let’s hear it for Morgan!”

“The Way I Talk” singer hasn’t revealed a reason for his absence as of now. He received nominations in the following categories: male vocalist of the year, album of the year, single of the year, song of the year, musical event of the year, entertainer of the year, and music video of the year.

Last year, he was also nominated thrice for entertainer, male vocalist, and album (One Thing At a Time) of the year categories. However, he didn’t win any of those awards. Aside from Wallen receiving CMA’s top award, Chris Stapleton led the event with three straight wins. He won the Male Vocalist, Single, and Song of the Year awards.

Most recently, Wallen put out a new song titled “Love Somebody” in October, which topped the charts in the US, Ireland, Canada, and a few other countries.
