A Very Bad Holiday trailer finds Mr. Wolf and his crew planning a Christmas heist

The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday trailer finds Mr. Wolf and his crew plotting a Christmas heist but saving the holiday instead!

Before Mr. Wolf and his crew got a taste of the good life, they gave the Grinch a run for his money by planning a holiday heist for the ages. Today’s The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday trailer finds the gang rethinking their approach to spreading holiday cheer when events threaten the holy holiday. Not on the Bad Guys’ watch!

In this new adventure set before the events of the original film, there’s nothing the Bad Guys love more than Christmas morning because while everyone is home opening presents, it’s the perfect time to execute their city-wide holiday heist. But when Christmas is unexpectedly canceled, the Bad Guys must do the unthinkable: reignite the city’s holiday spirit by giving instead of taking.

Bret Haaland (The Penguins of MadagascarKung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness) directs the holiday-themed prequel from a script by Aaron Blabey (The Bad GuysThe Damnation of Harvey McHugh). The new animated adventure features an alternate voice cast, including Kari Wahlgren as DJ Trudy Tude, Michael Godere as Mr. Wolf, Chris Diamantopoulos as Snake, Mallory Low as Ms. Tarantula, Raul Ceballos as Mr. Piranha, Ezekiel Ajeigbe as Mr. Shark, Zehra Fazal as Tiffany Fluffit, and Keith Silverman as Gary.

While The Bad Guys: A Very Bad Holiday trailer lacks the visual flare of the 2022 original, the heart, humor, and heist-related greatness remain! Why did no one tell me this movie was a thing? I love the original film and can’t wait to watch this delightful-looking holiday adventure with my nephew. Today’s footage previews a spirited experience through a bustling city of citizens still determining what Mr. Wolf and his crew are capable of. They’re about to discover the gang is unpredictable and could be the Christmas-time saviors they never knew they needed.

If you have yet to see the original film, I highly recommend it. Here’s a brief breakdown of the 2022 animated delight:

Based on the New York Times best-selling book series, The Bad Guys focuses on a crackerjack criminal crew of animal outlaws that attempt their most challenging con yet, becoming model citizens.

Never have there been five friends as infamous as The Bad Guys—dashing pickpocket Mr. Wolf (Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), seen-it-all safecracker Mr. Snake (Marc Maron, GLOW), chill master-of-disguise Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson, Hot Tub Time Machine franchise), short-fused “muscle” Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos, In the Heights) and sharp-tongued expert hacker Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina, Crazy Rich Asians), aka “Webs.”

But when, after years of countless heists and being the world’s most-wanted villains, the gang is finally caught, Mr. Wolf brokers a deal (that he has no intention of keeping) to save them all from prison: The Bad Guys will go good.

Under the tutelage of their mentor, Professor Marmalade (Richard Ayoade, Paddington 2), an arrogant (but adorable!) guinea pig, The Bad Guys set out to fool the world that they’ve been transformed. Along the way, though, Mr. Wolf begins to suspect that doing good for real may give him what he’s always secretly longed for acceptance. So when a new villain threatens the city, can Mr. Wolf persuade the rest of the gang to become … The Good Guys?
