Priscilla Release Date Delayed Following Venice Premiere

According to Deadline, A24 has officially delayed the theatrical release date for Sofia Coppola’s upcoming biographical drama Priscilla, starring Cailee Spaeny and Jacob Elordi. Originally scheduled for an October 27 release, the biopic has been pushed back for a week, and will now arrive in theaters on November 3.

This delay comes after Priscilla had just made its world premiere at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, where it received a 7-minute standing ovation. Prior to the premiere, the film was able to obtain an interim agreement with SAG-AFTRA. This allowed its cast to do press during the ongoing actors strike.

What to Expect in Priscilla?

“When teenage Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, the man who is already a meteoric rock-and-roll superstar becomes someone entirely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, an ally in loneliness, a gentle best friend,” reads the synopsis. “Through Priscilla’s eyes, Sofia Coppola tells the unseen side of a great American myth in Elvis and Priscilla’s long courtship and turbulent marriage, from a German army base to his dream-world estate at Graceland, in this deeply felt and ravishingly detailed portrait of love, fantasy, and fame.”

The film is written and directed by the Oscar winning director of Lost in Translation and The Bling Ring, based on Priscilla’s 1985 memoir Elvis and Me. It stars Cailee Spaeny (On the Basis of Sex, Vice) as Priscilla Presley, Jacob Elordi (Euphoria, The Kissing Booth) as Elvis Presley, Raine Monroe Boland and Emily Mitchell as Lisa Marie Presley, Jorja Cadence as Patsy Presley, Rodrigo Fernandez-Stoll as Alan “Hog Ears” Fortas, Luke Humphrey as Terry West, and Dagmara Domińczyk.
