The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has finally announced the next host for the upcoming 2025 Oscars. This marks the first time in two years that Jimmy Kimmel won’t be returning to host the prestigious event, which will take place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood.
Who will be hosting the 2025 Oscars?
The 97th Academy Awards, set to premiere on March 2, 2025, will officially be hosted by popular late-night show host and comedian Conan O’Brien. Raj Kapoor and Katy Mullan will executive produce.
“We are thrilled and honored to have the incomparable Conan O’Brien host the Oscars this year,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and president Janet Yang said in a joint statement (via Variety). “He is the perfect person to help lead our global celebration of film with his brilliant humor, his love of movies and his live TV expertise. His remarkable ability to connect with audiences will bring viewers together to do what the Oscars do best — honor the spectacular films and filmmakers of this year.”
Before O’Brien’s announcement, Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman were rumored as top favorites to host the 2025 Oscars. In a recent interview, Reynolds admitted that he would indeed be willing to host the event with Jackman. However, he doesn’t see it happening soon due to his busy schedule.
“And if I were to host something like (the Oscars) as someone who, you know, kind of feels a bit of intense sort of anxiety, I wouldn’t be present mentally,” Reynolds shared. “I would be kind of constantly writing in my head, or projecting potentially tragic outcomes on the live stage.”
