Rebecca Ferguson to Star in Netflix’s Peaky Blinders Movie

Rebecca Ferguson has joined Netflix’s upcoming Peaky Blinders movie opposite series vet Cillian Murphy.

The details of Ferguson’s character in the Peaky Blinders film have yet to be revealed. She will join previously announced cast member Murphy, who will be reprising his role as the Birmingham gangster family’s leader, Thomas “Tommy” Shelby. Production on the upcoming movie is anticipated to commence this year.

Meanwhile, plot details about the movie are still being kept under wraps, though it is expected to be set during World War II. Besides Murphy, it is still unknown who else will return to reprise their respective roles in the series. The Peaky Blinders series follows Tommy Shelby, whose high-profile status in Birmingham is threatened by Inspector Chester Campbell, who is determined to eradicate his terror.

Who’s behind the Peaky Blinders movie?

Ferguson’s involvement in the Peaky Blinders movie comes over a month after Tom Harper signed on to helm the still-untitled Peaky Blinders movie from a script written by series creator Steven Knight. Murphy and Knight will serve as the movie’s producers alongside Caryn Mandabach and Guy Heeley in association with BBC Film. The movie will be executive produced by Harper, David Kosse, Jamie Glazebrook, Andrew Warren, and David Mason.

An established actress, Ferguson is known for starring in several features like Hercules, Despite the Falling Snow, Florence Foster Jenkins, Life, The Snowman, The Greatest Showman, Doctor Sleep, The Kid Who Would Be King, Men in Black: International, Reminiscence, the two Dune film installments, and the three Mission: Impossible movies (Rogue Nation, Fallout, and Dead Reckoning Part One).

Ferguson has also starred in the historical drama The White Queen and Apple TV+’s Silo. She can next be seen in the upcoming thriller pic from Timur Bekmambetov, titled Mercy. She will star alongside Chris Pratt and Annabelle Wallis.
