Minnie Driver will voice a female version of the Penguin in Batman: Caped Crusader.
Batman: Caped Crusader is an upcoming DC animated series that is premiering on Amazon Prime Video this coming August.
Per Variety, Driver has been cast as a gender-swapped version of the notorious Dark Knight villain. She will be named Oswalda Cobblepot in the series, which will see Hamish Linklater voice Bruce Wayne/Batman.
“If we’re lucky enough to be invited onto the stage to inhabit these characters that already exist in the ether, we just sort of rise up to meet them,” Driver said of Oswalda at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend. “And this was such a beautiful retelling of that villain. It was joyful. And, I mean, she’s dreadful.”
