The audience score for ‘Joker 2’ on Rotten Tomatoes is surprisingly low.

The reception of “Joker: Folie à Deux” among critics and audiences is far from humorous. The original “Joker” film was a massive success both commercially and critically, grossing over $1 billion worldwide, receiving praise from many film critics, and even winning some Academy Awards.

However, the sequel is not enjoying the same level of popularity. As of now, both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes have given the film a low score of 36. In comparison, the first “Joker” film holds a much higher rating of 68 percent from critics and 89 percent from verified fans on the site.

To make matters worse, “Joker: Folie à Deux” is also struggling at the box office, earning only about $7 million in Thursday night previews, compared to the $13.3 million the original “Joker” made. Early predictions of a $70 million opening weekend for the sequel have now been downgraded to around $50 or $60 million.

The audience score on Rotten Tomatoes for “Joker: Folie à Deux” is considerably lower than other DC films, currently more than 20 points below the lowest-rated ones. Unless something changes drastically, this film could end up being one of the worst-reviewed DC movies in history.

“Joker: Folie à Deux” is now showing in theaters.
