Ke Huy Quan & Ariana DeBose Star in Action Movie


Universal Pictures has shared the official Love Hurts trailer for its newest action thriller, starring Oscar winners Ke Huy Quan and Ariana DeBose. This marks Quan’s first major leading man role following his acclaimed performance in 2022’s Everything Everywhere All at Once. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on February 7, 2025.

“The film follows Marvin Gable, a realtor working the Milwaukee suburbs, where ‘For Sale’ signs bloom. Gable receives a crimson envelope from Rose, a former partner-in-crime that he had left for dead. She’s not happy,” reads the official synopsis. “Now, Marvin is thrust back into a world of ruthless hitmen, filled with double-crosses and open houses turned into deadly warzones. With his brother Knuckles, a volatile crime lord, hunting him, Marvin must confront the choices that haunt him and the history he never truly buried.”

What happens in the Love Hurts trailer?

The video introduces Quan as a top real estate agent who’s trying to run away from his past as a hitman. However, when his crime lord brother finds out his location, he has no choice but to confront the past he left behind. It also highlights some of the film’s thrilling action sequences, as Quan shows off his martial arts skills as a former stunt choreographer. The trailer also teases a Goonies reunion between Quan and Sean Astin.

Love Hurts is directed by veteran stunt and fight coordinator JoJo Eusebio from a screenplay written by Matthew Murray, Josh Stoddard, and Luke Passmore. The film also stars Daniel Wu (Tom Raider), Marshawn “Beast Mode” Lynch (Bottoms), Mustafa Shakir (Emancipation), Lio Tipton (Lucy), Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level), André Eriksen (Violent Night) and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings trilogy). It is produced by Kelly McCormick and David Leitch, with Ben Orman executive producing.
