The 2024 U.S. presidential elections are gearing up for a final showdown, with the voting date now just days away. Ever since the commencement of the campaigning process, multiple celebrities have come out to pledge their support to either Donald Trump or Kamala Harris. While Taylor Swift has publically sided with Harris, Elon Musk has emerged as an avid supporter of her Republican counterpart. Recently, pop sensation Nicki Minaj was also said to have made her political opinion known by supposedly endorsing Trump. However, this claim was soon debunked and proven to be baseless.
Here are all the available details behind the viral video that led people to think that Minaj picked Trump’s side for the upcoming elections.
Nicki Minaj did not endorse Donald Trump
At the time of writing, Nicki Minaj has not posted any public statement to indicate her political inclination towards Donald Trump’s cause.
Speculations regarding the “Anaconda” singer’s preference in the 2024 U.S. presidential elections first took shape after a video featuring Minaj and her husband, Kenneth Petty, went viral on social media. In the snippet, Nicki Minaj admits that she will support Donald Trump.
However, renowned podcaster and Trump supporter Rob Smith soon disclosed that the video was not from 2024. Instead, Nicki Minaj had made the aforementioned comments about Trump in 2019. “OK UPDATE: Apparently this is from 2019 from when Trump was President the first time. Sorry for the Fake News! Let’s keep hope alive for next time,” Smith stated. (via Times Now)
Notably, Minaj had previously revealed that she first arrived stateside as an illegal immigrant. Nevertheless, the singer’s parents were able to acquire lawful citizenship prior to Minaj’s move to the U.S.
The 2024 presidential elections are scheduled to hold voting on November 5. The electoral college votes will then be counted in front of Congress on January 6, 2025. Two weeks later, on January 20, 2025, the elected President and Vice-President will officially proceed to take office.
