Country star Zach Bryan was recently referenced by podcast owner Dave Portnoy in his new track alongside Josh Richards. So, what happened between Dave Portnoy and Zach Bryan and why did the former diss Bryan in his new track?
Here is everything you need to know about the diss track and the feud between the two personalities.
What happened to Dave Portnoy and Zach Bryan?
Zach Bryan recently broke up with his girlfriend Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia, the host of the Barstool podcast. However, this split did not sit well with Barstool owner Dave Portnoy and Josh Richards. The duo supported Chickenfry when she claimed to be blindsided by the sudden split with Bryan.
In the five-minute diss track released on Wednesday along with Richards, Portnoy is heard badmouthing Bryan. The businessman accuses him of cheating on his ex-girlfriend. The song sees the duo dressed like cops with fake mustaches and even features a man resembling Bryan. As the track begins, Portnoy calls Bryan out for being on dating apps after his breakup. He says that Bryan “made a new rival” and he will need “a revival,” referring to the latter’s song, “Revival.”
Portnoy further went on expressing: ”You f–ked up. / It’s about to get gory / Go post it on your Instagram Story / You say you remember everything, but I guess not because you forgot about your wedding ring” (via New York Post).
Additionally, Portnoy mentions pop sensation Taylor Swift in the track. He called Bryan out for saying that Kanye West was better than Swift in his X (formerly Twitter) post. However, Bryan apologized for the statement later claiming he was inebriated at the time.
Further, Portnoy asks Bryan to take this track as a warning before his next date. Richards states that they know Bryan’s whole band “hates” him. The song ends with the duo changing the lyrics of Bryan’s popular track, “28.” The song is about his romance with Chickenfry, and the duo changed the lyrics to ”How lucky is Bri to be free of ZB.”
Soon, the track was deleted from YouTube on copyright grounds. Meanwhile, according to Chickenfry, she’s blocked Bryan, Portnoy, and Richards following the release of the track. However, the song is available on the trio’s and Barstool’s social media accounts.
