Dancing with the Stars contestant Nev Schulman’s Catfish incident explained
Before Catfish: The TV Show, host Nev Schulman shared his personal catfishing experience in a 2010 documentary. This project, titled Catfish, was directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman.
In the documentary, Schulman begins an online friendship with an 8-year-old artist named Abby Pierce. He also forms connections with her family members. However, things take an unexpected turn when Abby’s half-sister, Megan, enters the picture. Schulman and Megan are drawn to each other and quickly start an online relationship. Megan shares clips of song covers she performs, and their romance seems to blossom. However, this seemingly sweet love story is soon revealed to be far from the truth, leading Schulman to a shocking revelation.
It turned out that Megan and Abby did not exist in real. Those songs were taken from YouTube and Abby’s art career was a lie as well. The girls were actually created by Angela Wesselman-Pierce who earlier claimed to be Abby’s mother. She was catfishing DWTS star Nev Schulman for nine months with the help of her husband Vince. Angela expressed that her relationship with Schulman helped her reconnect with the world of painting. Vince also felt that she was using the relationship for financial gain.
Despite catching Angela’s lies, he continued to support her twisted actions. Further, Vince narrates a story of shipping catfish with cod to maintain the quality of the healthy fish. He felt that his wife was like that ”catfish” who made her victims’ lives interesting to help them reach their destination.
