As the release date of Ajay Devgn‘s Maidaan draws closer, fans have been expressing their excitement about watching the movie. With the recent trailer launch further igniting anticipation, all eyes are on the theatrical debut scheduled for April 10, 2024.
Amidst the buzz, AR Rahman, the composer behind Maidaan’s music, recently revealed his initial doubts about the upcoming movie.
‘Why am I doing this’: AR Rahman on Ajay Devgn’s Maidaan
In a recent interview with Connect FM Canada, Rahman opened up about his journey with Maidaan. He admitted, “When I first saw Maidaan, it didn’t have the CGI. My question was why am I doing this film? I have done a sports film already so what am I going to do new in it.”
However, AR Rahman’s perspective on Maidaan changed. Upon reflection, he recognized the potential to infuse elements of humanity, romance, and the representation of a powerful female character.
He added, “Then you realize it’s your mind which can do or not do things. So the way you take it is very important. It is very similar to how you take life. Now we have finished the song and it is done with the brilliant Amit Sharma who is so particular about every little frame and sound.” The composer highlighted the importance of how much work went into the film, stating, “He has dedicated four years of his life to this film.”
Amidst Rahman’s revelations, it’s crucial to revisit the plot of Maidaan itself. The film revolves around legendary coach Syed Abdul Rahim (played by Ajay Devgn) and his relentless pursuit to put the Indian football team on the global map. The film also features Priyamani (Rahim’s wife) and Gajraj Rao, who will don the role of Prabhu Ghosh, among many others.
The upcoming film is slated to release on April 10, 2024.
