Beetlejuice 2 ‘Is the Most F—in ‘Fun You Can Have Working’

Michael Keaton’s having a blast in Beetlejuice 2.

Audiences everywhere are gearing up to watch Keaton reprise his iconic role as Batman in The Flash. However, Keaton will also don his eye-catching sports coat once again for next year’s Beetlejuice follow-up. He will reunite with director Tim Burton to play Betelgeuse for the first time since 1988.

“Beetlejuice is the most f–kin’ fun you can have working,” Keaton told Empire. “It’s so fun, it’s so great. And you know what it is? We’re doing it exactly like we did the first movie. There’s a woman in the great waiting room for the afterlife literally with a fishing line – I want people to know this because I love it – tugging on the tail of a cat to make it move.”

When is the Beetlejuice 2 release date?

Beetlejuice 2 is set to be released on September 6, 2024, by Warner Bros. Pictures. The long-gestating project has been in discussion for years.

Keaton said, “[Burton] and I were talking about it years and years ago, never telling anybody. I said, ‘if it happens, first of all, we’ve both said we’re doing it many times. We both agreed if it happens, it has to be done as close to the way we made it the first time. Making stuff up, making stuff happen, improvising and riffing, but literally handmade stuff like people creating things with their hands and building something. F–kin’ great. It’s the most fun I’ve had working on a movie in I can’t tell you how long.”

Not only will Keaton return for the film, but Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara will reprise their roles from the original as Lydia Deetz and Delia Deetz. The cast will also add Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, and Willem Dafoe. Jenna Ortega will also be joining the cast as Lydia Deetz’s daughter.
