Britney Spears-Led Crossroads to Return to Theaters

The 2002 cult classic teen comedy-drama road trip film Crossroads, starring Britney Spears, is returning to theaters for a special two day celebration.

When does Crossroads return to theaters?

The news was announced by Trafalgar Releasing, Sony Music Entertainment and RCA Records on Thursday, and will see the movie return on October 23 and October 25, 2023, for a special global fan event. The movie’s return will coincide with the release of Spears’ upcoming memoir, The Woman in Me, which is set to release on October 24, 2023.

Tickets for the film will be available worldwide beginning on September 28, 2023, at the Crossroads fan event website.

“I am beyond thrilled that Sony Music Entertainment, RCA Records and Trafalgar Releasing are rereleasing Crossroads in movie theaters,” said director Tamra Davis in a statement. “I recently rewatched Crossroads and was so enthralled with the time capsule of nostalgia that this incredible ensemble cast brings to the screen. Britney is absolutely breathtaking to watch, and Shonda is showing us her early expertise in writing complicated female characters. We had the best time in the world making this picture and the connection the actresses bring to their performances shows in every frame. The music will undoubtedly have audiences dancing and singing along and I know everyone will have as much fun watching these scenes as we had making them. I’m so grateful that Crossroads will be available so people can see Britney shine again.”

Originally released in 2002, Crossroads is directed by Tamra Davis, from a script written by Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandall, How to Get Away with Murder). Alongside Spears, the film also starred Anson Mount, Zoe Saldana, Taryn Manning, Kim Cattrall, and Dan Aykroyd.

“Crossroads tells the story of three childhood friends, Lucy (Spears), Kit (Zoë Saldana) and Mimi (Taryn Manning), who, after eight years apart, rediscover their friendship on a cross-country trip,” reads the official synopsis for the film. “With barely a plan, practically no money but plenty of dreams, the girls catch a lift with Mimi’s handsome friend Ben (Anson Mount) in his convertible. Along the way they not only gather experiences that will change their lives, but they also discover how important it is to hold onto their hearts’ desires.”
