The workplace romance Chinese drama As Beautiful As You, featuring Xu Kai and Tan Songyun in the lead roles, released episode 5 on July 3, 2024. Previously, episode four of the drama focused on Ji Xing (Tan Songyun) resigning from her job. Episode five shows her deciding to start her own company.
In this episode, Ji Xing and Han Ting (Xu Kai) are seen reminiscing about their old times together. Han Ting reminds her of the ideology she lived by. She believed that it was okay to live a small and contented life as long as one got to help others. Hearing him utter those words takes her down memory lane. She recalls her speech at the finale of the national AI competition. Ji Xing is amazed even further when Han Ting mentions that not only does he remember her speech, but he also remembers how happy she was when she got the trophy.
He mentions how important it is for people to stick to their original dreams. His words encourage her to make up her mind. She wishes to pursue her dream of giving people a better life and healthcare.

After returning from the fishing village, Ji Xing meets her friend, Zhao. He is elated when she offers to start a company with him. In the meantime, she receives an offer letter from the HR department of Dongyang Medical.
Meanwhile, Han Ting gets excited, thinking that Ji Xing will join his company. However, his heart shatters when Ji Xing personally calls him to reject the offer.
Ji Xing returns home to find her boyfriend, Yichen, standing outside her house. Her happiness knows no bounds, and she runs into his arms. He has returned early from his business trip because he missed her. Ji Xing reveals to him that she wants to start her own company to work on 3D medical printing.
He asks her to think about it carefully before making any decision at a whim. She assures him that the decision was not taken impulsively or angrily. She does not want to waste her life working for others. He promises to support her decision. Further into the episode, Ji Xing’s friends come over for dinner. When Ji Xing breaks the news to them, they are initially taken aback but eventually show their support.
Tan Songyun starts her own company
It is evident that Ji Xing’s friend, Wei Qiuzi, is fond of her boyfriend. Meanwhile, Yichen hands over the entire down payment of the flat to Ji Xing to use as capital for her business. But later, she hears Qiuzi and Yichen talk in the kitchen. Yichen reveals that he doesn’t believe in Ji Xing but wants to see her try until she runs into a wall. Heartbroken, she decides to return the money to him.
The next day, she goes back to her old office to collect her belongings. Han Ting visits her personally to bid her farewell. He lends her advice on how to deal with investors. He lists all the possible problems she will run into. Han Ting also emphasizes that he doesn’t believe that she will succeed.
Ji Xing and Zhao take small steps towards starting their business. Zhao uses his father’s old warehouse as their base office, and Ji Xing contributes by submitting the start-up capital. They acquire a business license and also hire a few new employees. But they struggle to find investors.
What happens in As Beautiful As You episode 5’s ending?
Zhao convinces Xing to meet with Han Ting and ask for his help. However, Han Ting refuses to invest as their company lacks manpower and connections in the industry. He advises Ji Xing not to trust anyone, including him, as there is no place for friendship in business.
