Creepy Shudder Original to World Premiere at SXSW

Shudder, the premium streaming service for horror, thrillers, and the supernatural has announced that the supernatural spectacle Oddity by writer-director Damian McCarthy (Caveat) will world premiere at SXSW in the Midnighter Section.

Oddity Details

Oddity follows a blind medium who uncovers the truth behind her sister’s death with the help of a frightening wooden mannequin.

The film is written and directed by McCarthy and stars Gwilym Lee (Bohemian Rhapsody), Carolyn Bracken (You Are Not My Mother), Caroline Menton, Tadhg Murphy, Steve Wall, Jonathan French, and Joe Rooney.

“Shudder gave me an opportunity to build on what I learned from my first horror film Caveat. I couldn’t have asked for better collaborators in making something as creepy and strange as Oddity,” said director McCarthy. ”I’ve been a fan of SXSW for years, watching interviews with filmmakers and taking note of the films that have launched there, so having this premiere there is a huge achievement that I’m very proud of.”

In McCarthy’s previous film, Caveat, A lone drifter suffering from partial memory loss accepts a job to look after a psychologically troubled woman in an abandoned house on an isolated island. It’s also on Shudder.

Oddity is produced by Shudder, Keeper Pictures, and Nowhere. It is set for a streaming release this Summer 2024.
