Disney CEO Bob Iger confirms that Frozen 4 is in development, joining Frozen 3, which hasn’t even been released yet.

Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed today that the studio is working on Frozen 4, another sequel in the hugely successful animated franchise.

If you’re wondering about Frozen 3, don’t worry, you didn’t miss its release. The movie was only announced earlier this year, and we don’t know a hell of a lot about it. “‘Frozen 3’ is in the works, and there might be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works too,” Bob Iger said on Good Morning America. “But I don’t have much to say about those films right now. [Director] Jenn Lee, who created the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney animation on not one but actually two stories.” Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez, the songwriters behind the tunes, will be returning for both Frozen sequels. “Well, I’ve been quiet here for a while,” Anderson-Lopez wrote on X. “But yeah, this.

Both Frozen and Frozen II were enormous hits for Disney, with the first movie raking in $1.28 billion and the sequel grossing $1.45 billion. You can see why the studio wants to move ahead with not one, but two more sequels to the franchise. The last movie followed Anna (Kristen Bell), Elsa (Idina Menzel), Olaf (Josh Gad), and Kristoff (Jonathan Groff) as they travelled to an enchanted island to unravel the origin of Elsa’s magical powers.

Bob Iger made the announcement while attending the opening ceremony of World of Frozen at Disney’s theme park in Hong Kong, which allows guests to be immersed in the world of Arendelle and meet characters from the movie. “For years at our Disney Parks, we’ve been creating these large immersive worlds,” Iger said. “Essentially, they are the physical embodiment of some of the greatest stories that we’ve told… And of course, ‘Frozen’ being one of our most valuable franchises, I think it’s just right for building the place that ‘Frozen’ takes place in. It’s just a fantastic land that enables people to get immersed in the story of ‘Frozen’ and interact with all the great characters from the films.

Are you looking forward to Frozen 4… and Frozen 3, for that matter?
