Painkiller is based on Patrick Radden Keefe’s New Yorker article “The Family That Built an Empire of Pain.” It showcases how the Sackler family is the “most evil family in America” and involved “the worst drug dealers in history.” They had a huge hand in the opioid crisis because of their OxyContin distribution.

The cast of this Netflix series includes Uzo Adubaas Edie Flowers, Matthew Broderick as Richard Sackler, and Taylor Kitsch as Glen Kryger. Others involved are West Duchovny as Shannon Schaeffer, Carolina Bartczak as Lily Kryger, Jack Mulhern as Tyler Kryger, Dina Shihabi as Britt Hufford, Clark Gregg as Arthur Sackler, and John Rothman as Mortimer Sackler.
