Hwang In-Yeop’s upcoming K-drama, Family by Choice, is set to premiere in the second half of 2024. JTBC has recently announced the wrap-up of the filming and confirmed the cast as well. Hwang In-Yeop, Jung Chae-Yeon, and Bae Hyeon-Seong will be in the lead roles.
The new series is a remake of the 2020 Chinese drama Go Ahead. It featured Tan Song Yun, Song Wei Long, and Zhang Xin Cheng. The description reads, “The story revolves around three troubled youths who find solace in their common experiences to become the best family that they can be for each other.” The series revolves around the themes of friendship, family, and love.

JTBC has shared photos of the Family by Choice K-drama cast, confirming the actors in the series. It features Hwang In-Yeop as Kim San-Ha, Jung Chae-Yeon as Yun Ju-Won, and Bae Hyeon-Seong essaying the role of Kang Hae-Jun.
Furthermore, the other cast members and their characters include:
- Seo Ji-Hye as Park Dal (Ju-Won’s best friend)
- Choi Won-Young as Yun Jeong-Jae (Ju-Won’s father)
- Choi Moo-Sung as Kim Dae-Uk (San-Ha’s father)
- Shin Seo-Woo as young Kim San-Ha
- Oh Eun-Seo as young Yun Ju-Won
- Choi Jae-Yoon as young Kang Hae-Jun
Filmmaker Kim Seung-Ho, co-director of Twenty-Five Twenty-One, has directed the upcoming K-drama. It tells the story of three young people who will reunite after ten years. However, things will likely get complicated because of a love triangle.
In-Yeop will play the first lead in the series. Previously, he gained popularity for playing second lead characters in The Sound of Magic and True Beauty. Meanwhile, Chae-Yeon has earlier worked in many popular K-dramas, such as The Golden Spoon and The King’s Affection. Hyeon-Seong has also showcased his acting skills in series, including Miraculous Brothers, Our Blues, and Hospital Playlist.
Now, the trio are all set to take part in a story of love and friendship. Family by Choice will air in the fall of 2024.
