Angela Bassett joined the Impossible mission franchise as CIA Director Erika Sloane in Mission: Impossible – Fallout. The actress was slated to take over the role for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, but was forced to drop out due to COVID-19 travel restrictions. Thankfully, the Impossible mission franchise isn’t done with Angela Bassett.

While speaking with variety on the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One red carpet, director Christopher McQuarrie spilled a few details on how Angela Bassett would have fit into the new film, while also teasing that we’ll be seeing her again. “It’s interesting, she was going to be the head of the CIA, she was going to be in that room with all the other heads of the intelligence community that you meet,” McQuarrie said. “And we’re not done with Angela Bassett.“McQuarrie continued,”Angela is too fabulous. You can never, ever let Angela get away. There’s always a plan in the future.” Perhaps CIA Director Erika Sloane will return in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.
