Fans of the Scream franchise are asking if Neve Campbell is reprising her role of Sidney Prescott in Scream 7. Here is your answer.
Is Neve Campbell returning as Sidney Prescott for Scream 7?
Yes, Neve Campbell is returning as Sidney Prescott for Scream 7.
After having sat out Scream 6 reportedly over salary disputes, Neve Campbell is returning for Scream 7. The actress took to Instagram to announce her return, expressing excitement at reprising the role of Sidney Prescott. Campbell also said how it was an “honor” to play Prescott in the first five Scream films and claimed her appreciation for the films had “never waned”.
Neve Campbell’s return to the franchise in Scream 7 comes after Melissa Barrera was fired over her comments on the Israel-Palestine conflict and Jenna Ortega exited reportedly due to scheduling conflicts with Wednesday Season 2.
Campbell’s Sidney Prescott was last seen in 2022’s Scream, the fifth film of the franchise where she joined forces with Barrera’s Sam and Ortega’s Tara Carpenter and their friends in solving the mystery of the new Ghostface killer.
The Sidney Prescott actress previously had not ruled out a return to the Scream franchise in a 2024 IndieWire interview, where she said she would come back for the right price.
Aside from Campbell’s return, Kevin Williamson, who created and wrote the first Scream film, is taking over the directing duties of Scream 7. Williamson previously wrote the first, second, and fourth films and executive produced the fifth and sixth films. Williamson detailed his involvement in a separate Instagram post, reposting Neve Campbell’s post.
Williamson takes over directorial duties from Christopher Landon, who was originally going to direct the film but exited in December 2023.
