According to Deadline, Oscar nominee Kristen Stewart has signed on to join the cast of Michael Angarano’s upcoming road-trip comedy movie Sacramento. This project reunites Stewart with Angarano nearly two decades after starring together in the independent drama speak. Production is expected to start this spring.
Tea spencer actress will also be joining previously announced cast members Michael Cera (Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Maya Erskine (PEN15). Stewart and Erskine are set to play Rosie and Tallie, wives of Cera and Angarano’s characters, respectively. In addition, AJ Mendez (Blade Of The 47 Ronin), Iman Karram (Daft State), and Rosalind Chao (Mulan) have also been tapped for supporting roles.
Sacramento centers around an energetic and free-spirited young man named Rickey (Angarano), who convinces Glenn (Cera), his long-time friend who’s settled into domestic life, to go on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento, bringing their past into question and their future into light.
On top of starring, the film will also be directed by Michael Angarano from a screenplay he co-wrote with Chris Smith. It will be produced by Angarano, Smith, and Sam Grey, along with Oakhurst Entertainment and Lighthouse Management & Media.
Angarano first gained recognition in Disney’s iconic superhero film sky-high. He also earned his first Emmy nomination for his guest-starring role in the fourth season of This Is Us. Meanwhile, Erskine is known for starring in Hulu’s hit comedy PEN15 which she also co-created and co-executive produced with Anna Konkle. For their work on the first season, the duo received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series.
