New Pixar Movie to Be Announced at D23

A new Pixar movie will be announced tonight at D23, according to company CCO Pete Docter.

During a panel at the ongoing D23, Docter was asked about Pixar and Disney’s partnerships, where he mentioned that the two companies will often help one another. Docter also went on to reveal that Pixar had actually screened a movie just recently, one that would be announced during the Disney Entertainment Showcase panel later tonight.

Disney’s Entertainment Showcase is set to take place at 7 p.m. PT, and while it won’t be streamed anywhere for fans to watch, news will almost certainly make its way online quickly after it’s announced.

What do we know about Pixar’s future plans?

In June, Docter spoke with Entertainment Weekly about the future of Pixar’s plans, and revealed that they had two original films — one of which is Elio, from Coco co-director Adrian Molina — planned, followed by the release of Toy Story 5, which is currently planned for June 19, 2026. After that, Docter said that “some more original” films are planned.

“Yeah. We have two originals coming out next,” said Docter. “We have two original films coming out, and then Toy Story, and then some more original. We still have a little bit of work to do to get to the balance…which is exciting. We can talk again in a couple of years. We have a lot of stuff that is in the works now that I’m pretty excited about.”

Currently, Pixar’s slate has Elio set for release on June 13, 2025, and then another original, untitled film set for March 6, 2026, before Toy Story 5’s release date of June 19, 2026.
