One of Netflix’s longest-running original series, Big Mouth, will hit its climax soon. As the show gears up for its eighth and last season, co-creator and Nick Birch’s voice, Nick Kroll, explains how they will conclude the story.
In an interview with Collider, Kroll stated that while the show is coming to an end soon, it does not mean there will be no more additional chapters for the characters. According to him, they will be bringing closure to the story in a way that sets up the future for the characters as they head into the next chapters of their lives.
“‘Big Mouth’ is a show about kids going through puberty, it’s a show about change, and it’s an animated show in a rare way, where the characters do change and evolve. And we just had our last table read and, and just finished writing it. What we’re attempting to do is say that this show is ending. These kids, in this moment in time, we’re coming to a close with them, but they will continue to evolve and change and that their stories aren’t done,” Kroll told Collider.
He continued, “And yet, what happens when kids go from middle school to high school, or whatever stages we’re all in, college, or making a film together. You do have these condensed moments of time with people that are incredibly important and foundational, and you will evolve out of that into the next stage of your life. So, it feels like there’s a finality, but also that there is this future ahead of you that is exciting and scary.”
When is Big Mouth Season 8 coming out?
No release date has been set yet for the eighth season. Plot details about the upcoming season are also being kept under wraps, but since Season 7 explored new possibilities for the characters as they enter high school.
In addition to Kroll lending his voice to Nick, the voice cast members of Big Mouth also include John Mulaney as Andrew, Jessi Klein as Kessi, Ayo Edebiri as Missy, Jason Mantzoukas as Jay, Andrew Rannells as Matthew, and more.
“Teenage friends find their lives upended by the wonders and horrors of puberty in this edgy comedy from real-life pals Nick Kroll and Andrew Goldberg,” the logline reads.
All seven seasons of Big Mouth are streaming on Netflix.
