Comedian Rob Delaney is returning to the comic book world as the actor is joining the Deadpool 3 cast.
Who is Rob Delaney in Deadpool 3?
According to Deadline, Delaney is set to reprise his role as Peter, a run-of-the-mill, suburban man who somehow joins the mutant mercenary team known as X-Force in Deadpool 2. In the movie, Peter gets a spot on the team without any powers or special skills and actually join the team on their mission to save Russell Collins/Firefist from a prison transport.
In an infamous scene from the film, most of the X-Force dies while parachuting out of an airplane, with only Deadpool, Domino (Zazie Beetz), and Peter surviving. However, after Peter attemps to help fellow team member Zeitgeist out of a wood chipper he landed in, he’s hit with a splash of acidic vomit, killing him. At the end of the movie, however, Deadpool uses Cable’s (Josh Brolin) time-travel device to return to the moment and save Peter.
Outside of his comedy career, Delaney has starred in a litany of projects, including The Hustle, Bombshell, Tom & Jerry, Home Sweet Home Alone, and 2022’s The Bubble and The School for Good and Evil. Up next, Delaney will appear in the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One, as well as in Matthew Vaughn’s Argylle.
Deadpool 3 is being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick from a previous draft by Bob’s Burgers duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously assured fans that it will remain an R-rated film — just like the first two movies, which would make it the studio’s first movie with said mature rating.
It will serve as the first movie in the Deadpool film series to be released following Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox. The film is currently scheduled to release on November 8, 2024.
