Robert De Niro has played plenty of amazing roles throughout his career, but one of the most iconic is Travis Bickle from Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver. According to The Sun, the actor is set to reprise the role as Travis Bickle in a series of Uber commercials currently being filmed in London.

If someone trots out their Robert De Niro impression, chances are extremely good that “You talkin’ to me?” is the first thing out of their mouths. I’m not typically a betting man, but I’ve got to imagine that we’ll be hearing Robert De Niro utter that iconic Travis Bickle line yet again in the Uber commercials. Insiders added that Uber is hoping to include “famous passengers as cameos” in the campaign as well.

The Uber commercial wouldn’t be Robert De Niro’s first time in the realm of advertising, as he’s previously been featured in commercials for Warburtons, the Kia Niro, and more. It’s been assumed that the actor is taking on these gigs to help pay for his expensive divorce from his second wife Grace Hightower. The pair split in 2018, but De Niro’s alimony agreement requires him to pay her $1 million per year until one of them dies or she remarries.

Robert De Niro will next be seen starring alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s highly anticipated Killers of the Flower Moon. “At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight,” reads the official synopsis. “The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal.

The film will hit theaters on October 20th before making its streaming debut on Apple TV+ at a later date.
