Ryan Gosling releases Ken The EP with new mixes of I’m Just Ken

Ryan Gosling is capitalizing on his new singing career as he releases an EP of Ken songs from the Barbie movie featuring new versions of “I’m Just Ken.”

Usually, children ask for Barbie or Ken and get them as presents for Christmas. This year, Ryan Gosling gives back as Ken as he bestows his gift to us for the holidays. He has just released Ken The EP along with the composers of the year’s biggest film, Barbie, Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt. The Hollywood Reporter reveals that the new EP features the original “I’m Just Ken” from the record-breaking Barbie movie as well as three new versions, including “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie),” “I’m Just Ken (In My Feelings Acoustic)” and “I’m Just Ken (Purple Disco Machine Remix).” You can check out Ken The EP HERE.

Gosling, Ronson and Wyatt have also dropped the performance video of “I’m Just Ken (Merry Kristmas Barbie)” just in time to get you in the Christmas spirit. The new video may or may not feature Gosling in character as Ken. It starts off with everyone in the music studio preparing for their new rendition and Gosling confides in Ronson and Wyatt about wanting to put a fresh spin on the song. Ronson assures Gosling that the Christmas theme will make it fresh, to which Gosling also worries might make it too seasonal. Wyatt cites Die Hard as a Christmas project that remains a timeless, year-round classic. Then, just before dropping the needle, Gosling pops on his sunglasses, saying, “The world gets Ken’s voice, but Barbie only gets Ken’s eyes.”

Ronson revealed that he and Wyatt were only tasked to create two songs for the movie, “Dance the Night” and a Ken song. Ronson had explained that “It was never in the script [that] Ryan was going to sing. It was just like, ‘If we’re going to have Barbie’s perfect day song, we need a song from Ken’s point of view.’ ”

Well, Ryan Gosling can now add “Billboard Hot 100 Artist” to his resume as his single, I’m Just Ken, cracked the top 5 on the charts of Billboard’s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs. The popular beach-off sequence in Barbie featured the tune in which Ken goes through an existential crisis while battling an army of Kens. The musical number is just one of the songs that helped to catapult Barbie The Album to over one million streams globally. The soundtrack also features exclusive tracks from Dua Lipa, Ice Spice, Nicki Minaj, and Billie Eilish.
