Shane Gillis Scripted Series Ordered by Netflix, Will Be Based on YouTube Pilot

Just after he hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend, comedian Shane Gillis has teamed up with Netflix for the release of his new series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has ordered six episodes of Tires — a comedy series based on the YouTube pilot of the same name that Gillis created. The comedian also wrote and executive produced the show in addition to serving as the co-creator alongside John McKeever, with the duo making it under their production company Dad Sick Productions.

In addition to Steven Gerben and Gillis, Tires stars Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Stavros Halkias and features guest appearances from Andrew Schulz. The series is set to debut on Netflix on Thursday, May 23, 2024.

Additionally, Netflix also ordered a new stand-up special from Gillis. His previous Netflix special, Beautiful Dogs, debuted on the streaming platform last September and was in the Netflix U.S, Top 10 for two weeks. The comedian also recently got a sponsorship deal with Bud Lite.

What will Shane Gillis’ Netflix series be about?

“Will (Steven Gerben), the nervous and unqualified heir to an auto repair chain, attempts to turn his father’s business around despite constant torture from his cousin and now employee, Shane (Gillis),” reads the synopsis.
