Terrifier gets a 700 screen re-release this Wednesday

Writer/director Damien Leone’s Terrifier, starring David Howard Thornton as Art the Clown, is getting a theatrical re-release

For an indie horror movie that went out into the world unrated, Terrify 2 was a massive hit last year, earning $15.1 million at the box office on a budget of $250,000. And that success has not only paved the way for Terrify 3which will have a substantially higher budget and is aiming for a fall 2024 release, but it has also earned a theatrical re-release for its predecessor, the first Terrify. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting have announced that Terrify will be playing on around 700 screens as of this Wednesday, July 19th. This is the widest theatrical release Terrify has ever received and it will be playing for a few days. To see if it will be playing near you, check THIS LINK.

Written and directed by Damien Leone, Terrify (buy a copy of it HERE) was made on a budget of $35,000 and has the following synopsis: A maniacal clown named Art terrorizes three young women on Halloween night and everyone else who stands in his way.

The film stars Jenna Kanell, Samantha Scaffidi, Catherine Corcoran, and David Howard Thornton.

This Terrify re-release is coming our way courtesy of Dread and Iconic Events. Patrick Ewald, who is the owner and CEO of Epic Pictures and Dread, provided the following statement: “When Damien Leone and his team brought Terrify to Dread Central years ago, we knew that the film was something incredibly special and astoundingly terrifying in the best way possible. Now, six years later, with millions of Terrify fans worldwide, we are excited to once again unleash on the big screen this blood-soaked homage to old-school horror and the insanity of Art the Clown.

Iconic Events’ Steve Menkin added: “Every once in a while, a film genre spawns a generational talent who breaks the mold. Damien Leone is such a visionary director.

And Leone had this to say: “Let’s see if you can stomach Art the Clown’s notorious ‘hack saw scene’ on the big screen! Be sure to bring your barf bags.
