20th Century Studios is thrilled to announce the release date for The First Omen, arriving exclusively in theaters on April 5, 2024. In addition to sharing the film’s theatrical release date, a first-look image of the psychological thriller prequel is here to send chills down your spine.

Here’s the official synopsis for The First Omen courtesy of 20th Century Studios:

When a young American woman is sent to Rome to begin a life of service to the church, she encounters a darkness that causes her to question her own faith and uncovers a terrifying conspiracy that hopes to bring about the birth of evil incarnate. “The First Omen” stars Nell Tiger Free (“Servant”), Tawfeek Barhom (“Mary Magdalene”), Sonia Braga (“Kiss of the Spider Woman”), Ralph Ineson (“The Northman”), and Bill Nighy (“Living”). The film is directed by Arkasha Stevenson, based on characters created by David Seltzer (“The Omen”), with a story by Ben Jacoby (“Bleed”) and a screenplay by Tim Smith & Arkasha Stevenson and Keith Thomas (“Firestarter”). The producers are David S. Goyer (“Hellraiser”) and Keith Levine (“The Night House”), and the executive producers are Tim Smith, Whitney Brown (“Rosaline”), and Gracie Wheelan.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter in January Nell Tiger Free confirmed the prequel’s production wrap, saying a 2023 release was possible. We now know that 20th Century Studios is waiting until next year to summon evil to theaters, giving the studio plenty of time to promote the project after the strikes end.

“I can tell you that we have finished shooting,” Free told THR in January. “We have made the movie. It matches Servant (M. Night Shyamalan) with how much I truly loved the project and how excited I am about it. Even though there are notes and elements that are similar to Servant and (her character on the show) Leanne, it’s so wildly different. So it’s going to be really cool. At least I hope it’s going to be really cool. I’m very proud of it. So, hopefully, it’s going to be out this year. I don’t know when.”
