Will Gluck’s upcoming romantic comedy Anyone But You, starring Sydney Sweeney (EuphoriaMadame Web) and Glen Powell (Top Gun: MaverickDevotion) is pushing its release date. The film now opens on December 22 instead of December 15. The new release date puts the film in a prime spot for that sweet 4-Day Christmas weekend box office haul.

In addition to debuting a first-look image, details about the plot are making the rounds. In Anyone But You, Sweeney and Powell’s characters hate each other so much they can’t help but fall for one another. The story unfolds in Sydney, Australia, and follows the couple as they experience a variety of vacation-related mishaps, including falling from boats and discovering spiders down their pants. Have you seen the spiders in Australia? Oh, the horror! Alexandra Shipp, GaTa, Dermot Mulroney, Rachel Griffiths, Michelle Hurd, Bryan Brown, Darren Barnet, and Hadley Robinson join the project as cast members.

Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Gluck are producing, with Sweeney executive producing via Fifty-Fifty Films alongside Natalie Sellers, Alyssa Altman, and Jacqueline Monetta. Natalie Sellers and Alyssa Altman serve as executive producers through RK Films. Gluck and Ilana Wolpert wrote the screenplay.

Gluck is the genius behind the camera for films like Easy AFriends With Benefits, and the Peter Rabbit franchise. He’s in the throes of developing End of the World, an action comedy he plans to direct and co-write with Chris Brenner. Gluck is also attached to an adaptation of Ubisoft’s hit video game series Just Dance. Gluck will direct and co-write Just Dance alongside AC Bradley.

Have you ever hated someone so much you ended up falling for them? It sounds outlandish, but it happens more often than you think. If Anyone But You can tap into the unique circumstances that inspire that type of off-kilter chemistry, we could be in for a real treat this holiday season. Can you believe the holidays are right around the corner? The box office will be brutal, with films like Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Wonka competing for the top spot.
