Thunder Star Chet Holmgren Suffers Hip Injury vs Warriors

Oklahoma City Thunder’s Chet Holmgren faced an unfortunate setback during a game against the Golden State Warriors. The young star suffered an injury that left him in visible pain, leading to his early departure from the court. As the details about his injury remain vague, many are concerned about his injury and when he might return to NBA action.

Here is more about Thunder Star Chet Holmgren’s injury.

How did Chet Holmgren get injured?

Chet Holmgren, forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, faced an early exit from Sunday night’s game against the Golden State Warriors due to an injury in the first quarter. While attempting to block Andrew Wiggins’ layup near the baseline, Holmgren made contact and took a hard fall. He landed awkwardly on his right hip.

As Holmgren lay in visible pain under the basket, team staff eventually helped him to the locker room. He struggled to put weight on his right leg. The Thunder later announced that Holmgren wouldn’t return to the game, diagnosing him with a hip injury. Holmgren’s stats for the night ended at four rebounds with no points.

When will Chet Holmgren return to play for NBA?

Chet Holmgren of the Oklahoma City Thunder has been diagnosed with a right iliac wing fracture following the team’s loss to the Golden State Warriors. While there is no specific date for his return, the Thunder expects him to be back during the 2024-25 season. They will reassess his recovery in about eight to ten weeks, meaning his return could come after the All-Star break. Meanwhile, with Holmgren sidelined, Isaiah Hartenstein, Jaylin Williams, and Kenrich Williams might take on more responsibility. Though all three are currently dealing with different injuries.

The Oklahoma City Thunder’s No. 2 overall pick in 2022 had already missed his rookie season due to a foot injury suffered during a pro-am game.
