Tron 3 Cast Adds Jodie Turner-Smith & Greta Lee to Disney Movie

Following the casting of Emmy winner Evan Peters in Tron: Ares, Disney has officially listed two new actresses. Both will star opposite Oscar winner Jared Leto in the long-in-development project. According to Variety, After Yang actor Jodie Turner-Smith and Past Lives breakout Greta Lee have been tapped to join the Tron 3 cast.

Further details about Turner-Smith’s character are still under wraps. Lee is expected to portray a gaming and tech company CEO “who aims to protect her world-changing technology.”

What to Expect in Tron: Ares?

Tron: Ares will be directed by Joachim Rønning (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) from a screenplay written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne. Leto will play the titular character — a manifestation of a program that becomes sentient and crosses over into the human world.

The film is produced by Emma Ludbrook, Jeffrey Springer, and Leto. Russell Allen will serve as an executive producer. Production is expected to begin in August 2023.

The 1982 original centered on Jeff Bridges’ Kevin Flynn, a computer programmer transported into a fantastical virtual world and enlisted to topple an evil AI regime. Over three decades later, the film was followed by the Joseph Kosinski-helmed sequel Tron: Legacywhich starred Garett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, James Frain, Beau Garrett and Michael Sheen.
