“What do the monsters look like in Bird Box Barcelona?” is one of the big questions that viewers will ask during and after the new movie. With the creatures potentially looking like angels, aliens, or demons, the mystery of the Bird Box monsters is a complicated one. Here’s what you need to know.
Are the Bird Box Barcelona monsters angels or aliens?
The Bird Box Barcelona monsters appear as angels to Sebastian.
One theory explored in the movie is that the monsters can become anything, shapeshifting to a form specific to the person looking at them. This form can either be terrifying, manipulating the observer into killing themselves, or radiant, compelling the onlooker to lead others to their deaths.
The creatures also make a noise that sounds like singing to Sebastian and other followers, but whispers to others. Those whispers turn into the sounds of loved ones that ultimately convince listeners to remove their blindfolds and open their eyes to look upon the monsters.

The Bird Box Barcelona creatures look like angels with many eyes, at least to Sebastian.
While the audience doesn’t ever get to see the monsters in Bird Box or Bird Box Barcelona, a design for the monster was shared on Instagram by Howard Berger, the original movie’s special effects artist. It can be found below.
As theorized in the movie, however, the creatures may be “quantum beings” and capable of changing form based on a person’s fears, grievance, and pain. They can become a “torture or god.”
