Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 debuted on Paramount Network on Sunday, November 10, 2024, and is slated to be the final chapter of the series. The Western saga is one of the most popular shows currently on TV, and fans are wondering why it’s not available for streaming on Paramount Plus. Many are keen to learn if Paramount Network is the same as Paramount Plus.
Here is why Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 can’t be streamed on Paramount+.
Why can’t you watch Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 on Paramount Plus?
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is not available on Paramount+ as Peacock acquired the streaming rights for the series in a deal announced in early 2020. Since then, the popularity of Yellowstone has skyrocketed, prompting Bob Bakish, the president and CEO of Paramount Global, to call the deal with the NBCUniversal streamer “unfortunate” in 2022. Bakish also revealed that the deal happened before the merger between Viacom and CBS, the public announcement for which occurred in August 2019. (via Deadline)
Notably, after the merger, the company had the name ViacomCBS. It became just CBS (alternatively, Paramount or Paramount Global, the name it is traded under) in 2022.
Yellowstone Season 5 Part 2 is available on Paramount+ in the UK, and Canada, even if it’s not available for viewers in the US. The previous four seasons and Season 5 Part 1 can be streamed on Peacock, but the ongoing chapter is not available on this platform as well. Instead, viewers can live-stream the episodes on Sling TV, Philo, FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, Hulu + Live TV, or YouTube TV with an active subscription.
Is Paramount Network the same as Paramount Plus?
No, Paramount Network and Paramount+ aren’t the same. The latter is the in-house streaming service of Paramount Global, the parent company of Paramount Media Networks, which, in turn, owns Paramount Network.
Although US viewers can’t stream Yellowstone on Paramount+, at least for now, its spin-offs, 1883 and 1923, are available on the service.
