Created by and principally written by Peter Morgan, The Crown is a historical drama series that revolves around the life and reign of Queen Elizabeth II of England, who is portrayed by several actresses in the course of the series. The Crown premiered on Netflix on November 4, 2016, and garnered critical acclaim. It has since become one of the most influential TV shows of the 2020s. The first part of season six, comprising four episodes, premiered on November 16, 2023, and part two, which has the remaining six episodes, is set to release on December 14, 2023. If you are wondering where there will be a seventh season, you have come to the right place.
Here’s all we know about The Crown Season 7 and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there a The Crown Season 7 release date?
There is no The Crown Season 7 release date, as the series is slated to end after six seasons.
Series creator Peter Morgan originally wanted to end the show after six seasons. However, he announced in January 2020 that the series would end with season five, stating that as they started working on the fifth season, he realized that the series should end after that. “I’m grateful to Netflix and Sony for supporting me in this decision,” he added.
In June 2020, Morgan revealed that he had gone back to the original plan to end the show after six seasons. “As we started to discuss the storylines for Series 5, it soon became clear that in order to do justice to the richness and complexity of the story, we should go back to the original plan and do six seasons,” he explained. “To be clear, Series 6 will not bring us any closer to present-day — it will simply enable us to cover the same period in greater detail.”
The cast includes Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II; Lesley Manville as Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon; Marcia Warren as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother; Timothy Dalton as Peter Townsend; Jonny Lee Miller as John Major; Natascha McElhone as Penny Knatchbull, among others.
Why The Crown Season 7 isn’t happening
