Fans are currently wondering about the chances of an Elektra 2 coming out and if it has a release date. This is following Jennifer Garner’s recent surprise return as Elektra in Deadpool & Wolverine. She last played the character in 2005’s Elektra, which was a sequel spin-off to 2003’s Daredevil. Unfortunately, the movie ended up becoming a commercial and critical flop, grossing only $56 million against its production budget of $43 million.
Here’s all we know about the Elektra 2 release date and whether or not it’s coming out.
Is there an Elektra 2 release date?
There is no Elektra 2 release date as neither Kevin Feige nor Marvel Studios have confirmed such a project.
Moreover, there have not been any credible reports or rumors suggesting the possibility of an Elektra 2. Jennifer Garner also seemed to confirm that her version of Elektra got an ending in Deadpool & Wolverine.
The confirmation was via a recent Instagram post by Garner. Here, she penned a lengthy caption describing her return in the movie, how director Shawn Levy and Ryan Reynolds were instrumental in getting her to return, and how she trained to get in shape for the role. In the last paragraph of her post’s caption, she mentioned, “I didn’t know that Elektra and I needed an ending.”
Thus, this seemingly shuts down any chance of a sequel to the 2005 Elektra happening.
Why Elektra 2 might not be happening anytime soon
Elektra 2 probably isn’t coming out. This is because, as mentioned above, Jennifer Garner seemed to confirm that her character got an ending in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Even though Elektra 2 is not confirmed to happen or may not happen anytime soon/or at all, Jennifer Garner could still return as the character in future MCU projects. This return could potentially happen in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
The much-anticipated movie is poised to heavily deal with the multiverse, due to being the concluding chapter of the Multiverse Saga. Besides, rumors of legacy Marvel character returns like Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man in Secret Wars, bolsters the possibility of Garner’s own potential return.
