Zack Snyder Wants to Make a Young James Bond Movie

While not too much is known about the future of the James Bond movie franchise, director Zack Snyder recently said that he would be open to making a movie based on the iconic spy.

Speaking to The Atlantic in a recent interview, Snyder was asked about potentially returning to a pre-existing franchise once his time with Rebel Moon is through. Snyder said that it would be fun to see a younger James Bond.

“It’d be cool to see, like, 20-year-old James Bond,” Snyder said. “The humble roots that he comes from. Whatever trauma of youth that makes you be able to be James Bond. There has to be something there.”

A younger James Bond movie had been looked at previously

While Snyder and some fans may be open to a younger James Bond, the producers behind the franchise have all but closed the door on any movie like that. Two years ago, longtime James Bond producer Michael G. Wilson said that a younger Bond wouldn’t work.

”We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past,” said Wilson (via Deadline). “But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience. He’s a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something. He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a thirty-something.”

Following Daniel Craig’s departure from the character in 2021’s No Time to Die, the status of the next 007 film, as well as who will be playing the character of James Bond, has been subject to heavy speculation. With this new set of news, it seems like fans will have some time to continue theorizing who should play the character while those behind the scenes work on delivering the newest version of the iconic secret agent.
