With the cast of the upcoming Fantastic Four movie having been potentially revealed, a new report is suggesting that Mads Mikkelsen is being eyed for an iconic villainous role.
According to a recent report from John Campea, Mikkelsen is one of several actors that Marvel Studios is considering to play the role of none other than Doctor Doom.
“What [Campea’s source] confirmed to me is [Marvel] has talked to Mads Mikkelsen [about] Doom,” Campea said. “Now, to be clear, I’m sure they talked to a dozen people. They did not tell me that Mads Mikkelsen has been cast as Doom. Not at all. But they were able to confirm to me that Mads Mikkelsen is one of the people they talked to for Doom.”
Mikkelsen has already played a villain in the MCU, as he portrayed Kaecilius in 2016’s Doctor Strange; however, Marvel has cast the same actor in multiple roles before, such as Gemma Chan, who played both Minn-Erva in 2019’s Captain Marvel and Sersi in 2021’s Eternals.
Who is directing Fantastic Four?
Fantastic Four will be directed by Matt Shakman (WandaVision) from a screenplay by Josh Friedman, who was brought in to re-write the script originally written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer. As a project in Phase Six of the MCU, Fantastic Four is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
While no confirmed casting has been announced yet, recent reports suggest that Pedro Pascal is in the lead for the role of Reed Richards. Other rumored members of the film include Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, although nothing has been definitively announced as of yet.
The Fantastic Four comic debuted in 1961. Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, it was the first superhero team title produced by Marvel Comics and popularized famous characters like Reed Richards, Sue Storm and Doctor Doom.
